Meaning can be generated in a variety of different ways.

Representation, where one thing stands in for another, is one option. This podcast explores four approaches to making meaning: representation; recovery, in which art helps us to recover sensation; remembrance, in which ideas are joined together through processes of remembering; and finally recognition, in which images generate experiences of the things they depict. The podcast explores several important questions for creative practice:

How do you represent ideas in your creative practice? Are you constrained or empowered by the forms of representation that you choose?
Does your work tend to habitualize life, or does it disrupt habits and encourage its audiences to recover the sensation of life?
What role does time play in your work? Does your work prompt your audience to remember, rethink or re-experience the past?
What sorts of things might your audience recognise in your creative practice? Who determines what is recognised and how?
